The top interviewers will be shortlisted for the show and their submissions will be published on the Bhooter Raja Productions’ official Facebook page.
Internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi film producer Arifur Rahman’s production company Bhooter Raja Productions is looking for new faces as hosts for their upcoming reality show Rishkawala.
The announcement was made through a post on the company’s official Facebook page on June 28.
Arifur told Dhaka Tribune Showtime: “Our primary target is the young generation who think about Dhaka. We are looking for a host who looks at our city through a different lens, and likes to talk to rickshaw pullers and wants to know what goes on in their lives.”
The post said the company is looking for a male and a female host for their upcoming show on the rickshaw pullers of Bangladesh. Interested candidates can send their resume, pictures, and video portfolios to info@goopybagha.com or their official Facebook page.
Applicants are also encouraged to send in their interesting stories that involve rickshaw pullers of the country. Text, audio or video interviews of rickshaw pullers with applicants can be submitted as well.
The top interviewers will be shortlisted for the show and their submissions will be published on the Bhooter Raja Productions’ official Facebook page.
When asked about the show, Arifursaid : “An interesting research finding about Dhaka’s rickshaw pullers is that their total annual income is more than Bangladesh’s rail, airline or water transportation sector’s revenue. So that gives us an idea of how big their contribution to our economy is. Hundreds of thousands of new infrastructural development programs are being executed by the government, but not a single one is dedicated to the rehabilitation or employment of these people, with rickshaws having been banned on three major Dhaka routes recently.
“This series is primarily being produced for Bhooter Raja Productions’ official social media platforms. It is the first, and part of multiple ongoing series which will focus on untold issues around us and send these messages out to our younger generations,” he added.
The company’s official YouTube channel also launched a promo of the show on June 26, featuring Arifur and a female rickshaw puller in Dhaka named Rumana.
Bhooter Raja Productions is a sister concern of the internationally acclaimed production company Goopy Bagha Productions Limited. Goopy Bagha produced and distributed internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi films such as Kingdom of Clay Subject, and Live from Dhaka.
