To welcome the Bangla New Year 1426, Surer Dhara, a leading cultural organisation in the country, and Channel i are jointly going to organise an event titled ‘Lever Ayush Hajaro Konthe Borsohboron 1426’ on the premises of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital on Pahela Baishakh—the first day of Bangla New Year. Led by eminent singer Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya, the eighth edition of the event will start from the early morning of April 14.
Surer Dhara chairman and initiator of the signature event, Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya provided details about the celebration programme at a press meet, arranged jointly by Unilever, Surer Dhara and Channel i, yesterday.
Thanking Unilever and Channel i, Bannya said, “Every year, we refuse many artistes to include in the squad as we don’t have choice to take more than one thousand. But from the tenth year, we will celebrate the New Year with 15 hundred artistes. This year, Prime Minister of Bhutan Lotay Tshering will attend the event with his wife. He studied in Mymensingh Medical College, and he can speak and understand Bangla completely”
“Every year, the new year festival comes up with a theme. This year’s theme will be ‘Lokoj Sure Bangla Gaan’ (Bangla songs in folk tune),” she added.
The press conference was also attended by the managing director of Channel i Faridur Reza Sagor, freedom fighter and cultural personality Nasiruddin Yousuff Bachchu and marketing director of Unilever Bangladesh Nafees Anwar.
Alongside the popular novice and veteran artistes, the singers of Channel i ‘Sera Kontho’, ‘Khude Gaan Raj’ and ‘Gaaner Raja’ will also participate in the new year celebration.
Channel i will air the programme live till 2pm on April 14.
