International Women’s Day celebrated thru songs, dances

A troupe presents a dance recital at Chhayanaut Auditorium.

Artistes celebrated International Women’s Day presenting songs and dances at a programme held at Chhayanut Auditorium in Dhanmondi on Sunday.
The programme was jointly organised by Hello I Am (HIA), Rights Here Rights Now (RHRN) and Unite For Body Rights (UBR) marking International Women’s Day, which is observed on March 8 across the world.
President of parliamentary standing committee on women and children affairs ministry Meher Afroz Chumki was present as the chief guest while Dutch Ambassador to Bangladesh Harry Verweij and UNFPA Bangladesh representative Dr Asa Torkelsson were present as special guests at the programme.
The cultural show commenced with a group dance performance by artistes of Madal, an ethnic minority dance troupe. Following which, members of PSTC staged a play titled ‘Breaking the Circle’.
Later artistes presented a group dance titled ‘Essence of Soul of Bandhu’. Besides, renowned singer Shayan rendered songs at the programme.
